Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PlayFaster browser extension and related services (the "Service"), operated by Whiteboard Works Software LLC ("Whiteboard Works", "we", "us", "our").
By installing or using PlayFaster, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
PlayFaster is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that lets you control the playback speed of video and audio elements on web pages, from 0.1x up to 42x. The core extension is free to use. An optional, one-time supporter license is available for those who wish to fund continued development.
2. No Guarantee of Compatibility
PlayFaster works by adjusting the playback rate of standard media elements in your browser. Websites, players, and learning platforms change frequently, and we cannot guarantee that PlayFaster will work on every site or in every situation:
- A site may update its player in a way that temporarily or permanently prevents PlayFaster from working.
- Some platforms actively restrict playback controls, and behavior may vary.
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of the websites and platforms on which you use PlayFaster.
The Service is a convenience utility provided "as is." We are not liable for any consequence of using, or being unable to use, PlayFaster on any particular site.
3. The Supporter License
Free to use: PlayFaster requires no account and no payment. You can install and use it indefinitely at no cost.
Supporter license: If you choose to support the project, you can make a one-time payment for a supporter license. The supporter license is a single, non-recurring purchase — there is no subscription and no recurring charge. It grants lifetime access to any future paid features and may be activated on up to two devices.
4. Payment and Billing
The supporter license is sold at the one-time price displayed at the time of purchase. Payments are processed securely by Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, receipts, and applicable taxes.

5. How Your Data Is Handled
PlayFaster stores your preferences locally on your device and does not contain analytics or telemetry. It only transmits data in two cases that you initiate yourself: voluntarily activating a supporter license, and optionally attaching a page snapshot to a bug report. 6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Share, resell, or distribute your supporter license key to others.
- Attempt to circumvent license activation limits or reverse-engineer the licensing service.
- Use PlayFaster in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations, or the terms of the platforms you use it on.
7. Intellectual Property
The PlayFaster name, branding, and the hosted licensing service are the property of Whiteboard Works Software LLC. Your supporter license grants you a personal, non-transferable right to use the paid features; it does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Whiteboard Works shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data or financial loss, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of PlayFaster after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
